The Earth is Flat
2016 MAMA Gallery Los Angeles
"The Earth is Flat, 2016. Solo exhibition at MAMA Gallery, Los Angeles. A series of AI-themed sculptures and installations exploring the evolving role of technology in society — including Autonomous X12, a self-driving car chassis outfitted with cameras and screens, and Zeus, a video sculpture replicating a quantum computer that beats with the artist's own heartbeat."
The show brought together a series of AI-themed sculptures and installations that examine how technology is reshaping human perception, labor, and privacy. Autonomous X12, a self-driving car chassis stripped to its skeleton and fitted with cameras and interactive screens, displayed real-time data from a drive down Sunset Boulevard — a mundane errand the car could one day take without a driver. Zeus, a monolithic video sculpture replicating a quantum computer, pulsed with the artist's own heartbeat in dual sixteen-minute loops, evoking Deep Blue and the IBM chess match that beat Kasparov. The exhibition also featured Weight Watcher, a vintage refrigerator retrofitted with a closed-circuit video system, and You Are a Winner, a video sculpture playing affirmations that confront the psychology of a gambling win. Together, the works asked where humanity ends and artificial systems begin."
